Tamara Howard ACMT MFHT
Advanced Clinical, Sports and Soft Tissue Massage Therapist
Free, no obligation consultation
All initial appointments include additional time, at no extra cost, for a consultation, postural assessment and relevant range of movement or special tests to determine if the Massage Treatment is appropriate for the client.
If, after conducting the consultation, I do not feel that the treatment is appropriate or will not help my client, I will advise and there will be no charge.
I will also advise if I feel referral to a different healthcare professional would be more suitable.

Advanced Clinical / Sports Massage Treatment - £55
60 minute appointment
(plus 15 minutes for 1st appointment)

During the initial appointment I will go through a short consultation form before carrying out a postural assessment and some range of movement tests to highlight any problem areas. This will enable us to agree the most appropriate treatment plan for you.

The treatment itself will consist of warming the muscles before manipulation of the soft tissue using techniques such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release and deep frictions to target tightness and break down scar tissue and adhesions.

If myofascial cupping, dry needling/acupuncture techniques would be beneficial and is appropriate for the client, this would also form part of the treatment at no additional cost.
Whilst it sounds quite intense, Sports Massage should not be an overly painful or unpleasant experience. I ensure I'm constantly communicating with my clients to ensure they receive a treatment suitable to them!
Pre-event Massage - £30
30 minute appointment

The functions of a pre-event massage are to:
-
Optimise performance
-
Warm up and increase blood supply to the muscles
-
Decrease muscle tension
-
Encourage appropriate range of movement in the joints
-
Create a state of "readiness" in the muscles
-
Allow for mental preparation

Ideally, pre-event massage should be performed within a couple of hours of the event. However, it can take place up to a couple of days before.
Post-event Massage - £30
30 minute appointment

The functions of a post-event are to:
-
Assess for injury or tissue damage
-
Normalise tissue
-
Restore muscle tone and resting muscle length
-
Flush out congested areas
-
Prevent or lessen muscle soreness
-
Relieve muscle cramps and spasms

A post-event massage is much lighter and superficial than a normal sports massage and should ideally take place within 2 to 6 hours after the event. However, it can still be very beneficial if performed within a couple of days.

90 minutes

During the initial appointment I will go through a short consultation, which will include the completion of a health questionnaire and a full explanation of the treatment.

The treatment itself is a full body massage using both hot and cold stones starting on the back and shoulders, moving on the the rear of the upper and lower legs flowing into the feet. Massage then continues through the front of the legs, then the arms before finishing off through the shoulders, neck and face.

It's not just about the massage! I use candles, essential oils, warmth and music to create a calm, comfortable and relaxing environment to help my clients feel at ease and be able to relax as much as possible, as it is such an important part of a stones treatment.
When it comes to what we find relaxing, everyone's tastes can be very different, therefore I'm more than happy to discuss personal preferences prior to treatment.
